Our weekend

We had some fun times this weekend. Lee took Annalee with him when he went golfing with his dad & a few others on Saturday, and apparently she loved it. We're enjoying Addie's diligence in her efforts to crawl...she's SOOO close! And Annalee has become such the helper recently. She loves to bring toys to Addie, or help hold her bottle, or wipe her mouth if she spits up. We also got a ton of rain between Saturday evening and last night, so we got to have lots of snuggles with the girls on the front porch. So, here are a couple of highlights.

On a serious note...praise God for His miracle today

This could have been so bad, I know. Thank you, God, for Your grace in protecting Annalee from what could have been severe injury or even...
So, I was bathing Addie in the kitchen sink, and Annalee had wandered off to go play (or so I thought) by herself, a common occurance when I'm focused on something. Towards the end of the bath, I heard a crash from the other side of the house, quickly followed by Annalee running into the kitchen, crying. So I scoop up Addie and follow Annalee back to the nursery. This is what I found.
Annalee was fine, somehow. I have no clue how this happened; I can only guess. But the message I want to get out to all of you with kids is PLEASE CONSIDER BOLTING YOUR DRESSERS TO YOUR WALLS!! I know we will be doing so before the sun goes down tonight. Just the thought of having one of my babies harmed because of something that only takes a few minutes to prevent is unbearable.

6-month update

Well, some of you are probably eager to know how Addie is doing on the ol' growth charts. Well, here are her current stats, in pink, compared with Annalee's 6-month stats, in green:

weight: 17 lbs, 6 oz (80th percentile), 15 lbs 4 oz (50th percentile)
height: 26.5 inches (80th percentile), 26.5 inches (80th percentile)

Funny girl...this is how she looked when I went in to wake her up this morning (8:15...woohoo!)

matchy-matchy

Another first

Our little chunk-a-saurus has been sitting with us at the dining room table for dinner recently, so that she can learn what we do at mealtime, and this also allows her to be social with us. After several days of her eyeing our food as if she wants to devour it (salivating included), we decided to offer her some baby cereal last night. Here's how it went down...

Happy Easter!

As our pastor so clearly put it this morning, we have been made "white as snow" because of the passion of Christ...the passion refers to His suffering on the cross for our sins, and once we believe that He died for US and rose again on the 3rd day (the TRUE reason for celebrating Easter Sunday), we are washed white as snow for all eternity. Thank you, Jesus, for this indescribable gift!

On a lighter note, Annalee got to participate in her first Easter egg hun
t today after lunch. No, we're not going to do the whole Easter bunny thing, just keeping it a simple, fun tradition. She never quite caught onto the idea of collecting the eggs and then going through the loot later; she wanted to open each egg as she came to it. Here are a few more snapshots from our day.

Annalee would rather eat the candy than collect eggs...smart girl!
How sweet...she didn't mind sharing her candy!

I'm dreaming of a white....Easter???

Well, leave it to West Texas to generate some of the most bizarre weather patterns in the country. Just a few days ago, it was in the 80s, and now we're digging our ski jackets & humidifiers back out of storage! Even the mesquite trees had begun blooming, which is usually a sure-fire way to know that it's safe to begin planting your spring flowers. We did get out shortly to play in the 1-inch snowfall we received on Saturday, which Annalee enjoyed very much.

Addie has discovered Camper

For some reason, Addie thinks Camper is about the funniest thing in the world. He doesn't even have to be doing anything for her to crack up!

stuck

I was cooking dinner last night, and from Annalee's room I hear a panic-stricken voice yelling, "Mommy out! Mommy out!" So I went into her room and found her curled up with her buddy Elmo in her baby dolls' crib...needless to say, I cracked up and had to leave her to go get the camera. This did not go over well. But I had to capture this moment!
